The unusual Santa Fe symbol seen in San Bernardino was comrised of hexagonal tiles; it is a red cross, seemingly reflecting the Native American Indian Medicine Wheel - an ancient ceremonial circle. The wheel is a circle divided by a cross representing the north, east, south, and west; and those, respectively the white buffalo, golden eagle, coyote, and grizzly. The center is "creator." Only the architect would have known why it is framed in a diamond, which symbolizes the Navajo homeland with its four sacred mountains. These predate the usual typical Santa Fe symbol of a cross in a circle that usually was blue, sometimes yellow on the red of cabooses, boxcars, etc.
