TUCSON SOUTHERN PACIFIC DEPOT IN TUCSON, AZ
Trackside, a single centered tower (at left) likely was also similarly appointed and with elaborate sculpture ornamentation. It likely sported the arched mission-style facade facing outward and brick-capped parapets, which would have been eliminated for the current flush-faced gable end. The north end 1st and 2nd floors were extended - probably half of what is seen was added in 1941. It's unclear why SP rr thought they needed such a huge facility. The Railway Express Building at the right was NOT remodeled - original architectureal style. Note the rafter end style and no rain gutter. 414 E. Stevens Ave., Tucson on Google maps "street view" will display trackside of the building (as well as 400 N. Toole Ave. for streetside).
