SOUTHERN ARIZONA TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM IN TUCSON, AZ
SoPac Locomotive #1673 on 12-17-13 in its cover at the SoPac depot. Built in 1900 and categorized as a mogul of the M-4 class 2-6-0 locomotive, it was originally a coal-burner. Retired in 1955 and donated to the City of Tucson, it was moved to the property of the Arizona Historical Society in Tucson. The locomotive was in excellent running condition when donated to the City. Due to construction at the Historical Society, it was moved to a display location at Himmel Park in Tucson in 1962. In 2000, it came to it's current location at the former SoPac Depot, which currently serves Amtrack. Excellent early photos and info are at the Museum's web site: http://www.tucsonhistoricdepot.org/1673/about1673.htm
