DENVER RAILS PICTURE OF THE DAY FOR 05/24/2023
Wickenburg, Arizona is possibly the west’s most western town.
The Wickenburg, Arizona train station is among the oldest Santa Fe wooden depots in Arizona. Now serving as the headquarters for the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce this landmark proudly remains in its original configuration.
On July 29, 1995, Wickenburg celebrated the 100 year anniversary of its railroad depot. The structure stands with its original 1895 design, without additions or modifications and is one of the few such surviving examples of "Wild West" railroad architecture.
The Wickenburg depot saw its last passenger service in May 1969 when Santa Fe discontinued the daily Super Chief train running between Phoenix Arizona and Williams Junction, Arizona.
