This site contains a good resource of information about past amusement parks, their history, and their ultimate disposition. There are many pictures to show the memories folks had back "in the day". There are also a number of railroad references as many of these parks featured their own miniature railroads.
THE NC&STL PRESERVATION SOCIETY
The NC&StL Preservation Society will do everything in its power to promote the preservation of buildings, rolling stock, right of way and motive power; and collect, organize and preserve artifacts, history and information related to the NC&StL Railway along with the memories of those who made sure the trains got 'to and from Dixieland'.

Thousands of miles of railroads have been abandoned in the United States, much of it in the last 40 years. All of these abandoned railways have a history and a story. AIRZONA RAIL PASSENGER ASSOCIATION

SAVE UNION STATION
Join the effort to help save Oklahoma City's Union Station. Like many historic rail sites, Union Station's future is uncertain.

Burlington Northern Adventures relate the personal experiences of the author, William J. Brotherton, who went "railroading" as a brakeman, conductor and trainmaster for the Burlington Northern Railroad system during the 1979-1982 period.

Ameica's first great rails to trails project. Over 60 miles through the countryside of the Chicage suburbs.
The George S. Mickelson Trail, in the heart of the beautiful Black Hills, was completed in September of 1998. Its gentle slopes and easy access allow people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the beauty of the Black Hills. There are more than 100 converted railroad bridges and four hardrock tunnels along the trail.
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., whose mission it is to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors to build healthier places for healthier people.
