Comments/Directions:
BN caboose is on display in front of catoosa depot replica. The Catoosa Historical Society, to acknowledge the importance of the railroads in the area, chose the depot design for its building, which is a scale model of the original depot built with plans provided by the Frisco Museum and correct right down to the 2 bay windows - one on each side since they moved the mainline from the East side to the West side during a line change. Adjacent on the grounds sits caboose numbered 1881 painted in Frisco red and yellow colors. Donated by BN rr, it originally was BN Caboose No. 12252. It's current number 1882 is the year of establishment the line and of the city. The Atlantic and Pacific Railroad had completed its line from Saint Louis to Vinita, Ok by 1871. The A&P rr formed the Saint Louis and San Francisco rr in 1876 and subsequently finished their line through Catoosa to Tulsa in 1882. Catoosa and other towns became cattle rail terminals for the cattle drives from Texas, shipping to Kansas City and the eastern U.S. In 1995 the SL&SF successor Burlington Northern Railroad merged with AT&SF rr to form the BNSF Railway, and it remains a main line.

Comments/Directions:
Built in 1890, it originally was only about 40' long. In 1904, the freight area was expanded 50' and the baggage room was added. Typical of the Katy's Territorial-Era depots, its an inexpensive building of the Stick style with added exterior trim work. Originally along the Katy line along Gentry Street downtown, it was moved 1/2 mile to this location in 1986 after the Katy Heritage Society purchased it. It houses the Katy Depot Museum and is a Visitor Information Center. The trackside that had faced east is now facing west toward U.S. 69. Passenger service ended 1965 and it was abandoned in late 1970's. Stick is characterized by gabled roof with overhanging, flared eaves and decorative bracket trusses; and by wooden wall cladding with contrasting vertical and horizontal trim patterns;. The depot has red ceramic tile gable roof and decorative scissor-bracing in one gable end. Ticket area was flanked by passenger waiting on one end and freight and storage on the other. Sitting out front is MKT caboose No. 205 built in 1917, a steel underframe, yellow pine body, wide-vision. Originally when operating as Copper Range rr Caboose No. 05, it was a faded red color. Now it is a brilliant red, but as MKT it was green with yellow lettering.

Located on a brick street in the Guthrie's Historic District this Boarding House was home to the Railroad worker in the 1890's,when there were 7 Railway Companies within 3 blocks, through the 1960's. We are now called a Bed & Breakfast and the Railroaders who visit are retired. We still provide a comfortable place and a good home cooked breakfast. Our Boarders rooms are now two room suites with a variety of bed sizes. The Railroad House is still accomodating "Boarders" only now we call them "Guest." We are a Railroad Family and are adding our memorabilia to the decor. Bring your railroad history to share ! Call or email for special rates. Comments/Directions:
The 1914 depot replaced the original 1902 depot, which was converted to shops, and second 1910 wooden depot that had burned. One of the finest on the Frisco, it served Hugo until 1960. In 1978, the County Historical Society renovated it and operates the Frisco Depot Museum. Listed on National Register of Historic Landmarks. County-wide historical artifacts, documents and pictures are displayed. In the south waiting room are displays of railroad memorabilia including a Harvey House news stand, boxes from the 1902 Sawyer, Oklahoma post office, etc. The north waiting room has a small model railroad display with 3 operating lines. Upon finding the extant counter-type Harvey House Restaurant and dorm rooms for the Harvey Girls preserved on the second floor, this is a depot well worth stoppin' by! Hours Tu-Sa 10 to 4. The North-South Frisco line was completed by 1887 through Hugo to Paris, TX from SW Missouri, while the East-West Arkansas & Choctaw was completed from the Arkansas line through to Ardmore, OK in 1902 - 1903. It was established through a 1902 agreement with the Frisco, by which agreement, ownership passed to the Frisco in 1907. Shown on 2009 maps, the owner of both lines out of Hugo for various distances is the Kiamichi Railroad (KKR) - a short line owned by Genesee & Wyoming. The Frisco, was a dominant railroad throughout the south central United States, primarily in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. It played an important role in the lives of people all along the rails.

Comments/Directions:
In 1916, the Midland Valley rr built their Passenger and Freight depot to replace their 1904 passenger depot, built that year when the MV reached Muskogee from Arkansas. It's unique motif designed by one of the more avant-garde architects of the period (also designed identical Tulsa MV depot - now demolished) portrays his somewhat strange, stylized version of the then-popular Mission Revival style. Such as the excessively broad keystones at gable pediments and baggage/freight bays, includes geometric, rectangular and angular embellishments such as the geometrically patterned exterior chimney. It also displays many characteristics of Prairie School style of architecture that also was used in depots of the period. The depot oriented east-west with the current front facing south where the mainline tracks (now removed) had been adjacent to the building, apparently between the building and Elgin Street? (1912 plat map) The extant Frisco Freight Warehouse now is located diagonally across the intersection at South 3rd and Elgin Streets. These depots are part of the National Register's "Muskogee Depot and Freight District" (designated in 2006). The city purchased the depot in 1998. The depot houses the Three Rivers Museum - a local history museum that opened in 2001 and assumed the nom de guerre of the "Three Rivers" confluence where two tributaries empty into the Arkansas River. On the north side sits a nicely displayed ALCO S-1 No. 63-138 built in 1949 for the Fort Howard Paper Company. It was donated in 2001 by Georgia Pacific

Comments/Directions:
The Katy depot was moved from it's original site in downtown Wagoner to it's present location in 1980. The Katy built through to the Arkansas River by 1871, at which time small towns sprouted along the route at the railroad's "stops" and where small depots were built. One such was the Wagoner Katy depot. Unknown date built but the town began in 1887 when the first hotel was built near the intersection of the MKT Railway and the Kansas and Arkansas Valley Railway (a branch of the MoPac) - both now UP. The nice brick SoPac depot (now demolished) was still present in 2006 in google maps street view. Ex-Missouri Pacific Caboose No. 13540 (now painted red and sporting a Katy logo) sits behind the building along with Missouri Pacific (former Pullman Heavyweight Sleeper) Bunk Car X3436.
