The complexity of the total structure seen here on 12-17-2013 and displaying Spanish Colonial Revival (SCR) architecture, including it's Spanish Mission Revival and Moorish revival components. The long street elevation is comprised of distinctly designed receding and projecting zones that read like a row of quasi-religious and secular buildings, especially the ornate, cathedral-like passenger depot in the center of the building. Built in the heyday of railroad travel, an era when railroads designed depots as cathedrals to themselves, this Depot was unique in its design throughout the Santa Fe system. It is the last depot built by the Santa Fe in the Mission Revival style. Except for the San Diego Depot built in 1914, other depots elsewhere along the Santa Fe were mostly Carpenter Gothic in style similar to the former 1886 San Bernardino Depot.
