SAN ANTONIO AND ARANSAS PASS BRIDGE IN COMFORT, TX
A SAAP rr bridge is located about 3 miles east of Comfort, TX (the line is abandoned). Photo taken by Aaron leibold in April 2011. http://bridgehunter.com/tx/kendall/comfort-railroad/ Three section abandoned R/R Through Truss Bridge over Guadalupe River The Eastern approach span is a 135ft long Pratt Through Truss dated 1906. The center span is a 200ft long Pin-Connected Parker Through Truss dated 1900. The main span is a 200ft long replacement section of riveted Parker design (no date). Wooden trestles on both ends. Total length is 1070 ft. Directions: I-10 exits for Comfort, TX and take U.S. 87 Business into Comfort to TX Hwy 473. Go east on 473 about 3.6 miles, turn right (south) on River Bend Road about 0.7 mile to bridge along east side of road. Comfort is about 15 miles southeast from Kerrville.
