n 1882 the Pensacola & Atlantic Railroad laid railroad tracks in north-central Florida and after selling out to the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, built the Louisville and Nashville Depot in downtown Chipley.
115 miles east of Pensacola & 85 miles west of Tallahassee, the Chipley Station was served by Amtrak's Sunset Limited train until service was suspended after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, disrupting the transcontinental run between New Orleans & Los Angeles.
