This is the actual Goleta Depot (built in 1901 and moved to current site in County Park) and is somewhat more than just a "museum" It's a site worth going out of the way to visit. It has a real caboose that can be entered; a restored Freight Office; a small store selling books, magazines and railroad memorabilia. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nearby is historic Stowhouse and Sexton museum. The RR depot and grounds are free. Bring a picnic. See website for schedule of miniature-train rides, handcar rides, and much more. The Amtrak operates stations in Goleta, Santa Barbara, etc.
