Motive power for the train is either an 18 Ton gasoline powered Plymouth #1 (formerly the Wilmington and Western #1), or a 30 Ton diesel powered Davenport locomotive. An ex-Western Maryland troop carrier is featured, and the ride includes a trip over the famous Monocacy River Bridge, washed out by Hurricane Agnes in 1972, and rebuilt by Walkersville Southern in 1995. Since November the Chesapeake Division, RRE, has had its ex-Wabash caboose #2827 here for excursion service. The Walkersville Southern is operating on Saturdays only in May and September and both Saturdays and Sundays in June, July, August, and October. Trains depart the Walkersville depot at 11, 1 and 3. The Davenport is now the primary motive power.
