The Homestake Mining Company used the J.B. Haggin to haul ore from 1879 to 1900 when it was replaced by compressed air locomotives. In 1932 a portion of the wall of the Adams Museum was removed, tracks were laid into the building and the J.B. Haggin chugged into the museum under its own power where it has remained ever since.
