AT & SF Steam Engine Ten Twenty Four, a 2-6-2 Prairie Type Locomotive. La Junta, Colorado. West First Street Park. Built in 1901. Length: 73 feet, 7.5 inches. Weight: 235,200 pounds. Originally built to serve as a passenger engine, converted to a utility engine in 1913 and served throughout Colorado. Frequently made trips from Las Animas, Colorado to Chicago, Illinois unti the end of World War II. Dontated to the City of La Junta, Colorado from the Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Compay on September 8, 1954. The 1990 restoration project was supervised by La Junta Cattleman’s Club. All paint and supplies donated by local merchants and labored by La Junta volunteers.
