Comments/Directions: Large G scale replica of the Union Pacific Railroad from Gerber to Dunsmuir. Godfrey Humann, creator of the South Shasta Lines, opens his museum seasonally. His trains first ran for the public in 1950. Since then, nearly 89,000 people have attended, coming from all parts of the world. Humann's miniature trains, includuing 17 steam locomotives, will be running over 900 feet of tracks, along with 100 freight and passenger cars. The trains travel through scenic replicas of the Sacramento River Canyon and work their way up the grades in view of pine and fir trees that cling to the cliffs. Trains travel through tunnels, cross bridges and a water fall. Hundreds of tiny details are part of South Shasta lines, such as glowing fireboxes in the steam locomotive, a bell that rings, an operating sawmill and a copy of an alfalfa mill that was a Gerber landmark. Music plays from the church and nine of the locomotives are equipped with sound. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Each showing can accommodate 75 people.
