The depot was built in 1922 for the Chicago Minneapolis St. Paul & Omaha Railway -the Omaha Road, for short. The line was originally narrow-gauge and was abandoned in the mid-1960s. The town plans to turn the old depot into an attractive trailhead rest stop for its recreational trail system. It would also house a museum of local railroad history and would be a place where visitors could stop for brochures about local attractions.

The Cody Park Railroad Museum has the only Challenger 3900 series steam locomotive on public display, accompanied by a 6900 series diesel locomotive. These two locomotives have a combined horsepower of more than 12,000! Also on display Hershey Nebraska’s fully restored railroad depot, several rail cars, and a caboose and railroad memorabilia.
Display includes Hershey Depot, UP Challenger #3977, UP DDA40X diesel #6922, RPO, baggage car, and UP caboose 25161.
Display is open from May 1 through September 30th, Open evry day 10am - 7pm. Admission is Free.

Located in restored 1931 Omaha Union Station. UP caboose 25559 on display. UP 1243 Steam Locomotive now on display in basement on track 1. The museum also contains several Passenger Cars on display on the same level as the Locomotive and Caboose. Many interpretive displays about area railroads and railroading. A beautiful building, across the UP mainline from the CB&Q depot which is currently (9/2006) closed to the public. The museum parking lot and adjacent street bridge are pretty good train watching locations.
