Comments/Directions: A unique 12 block area of downtown Atlanta, GA. In the early 1900's, there were several railroad tracks that ran parallel to some of Atlanta's busiest streets. The car and truck traffic on the cross streets was often interrupted by train traffic, so city officials decided the solution was to bridge over the tracks for several blocks and raise the street adjacent to tracks on a bridge. The original second floor became the main floor, and the original first floor went underground.
